Ideas for email
signature files:
Email signatures are easy to set up and
give you free advertising.
By putting your business information in your email
signature, you may gain more advertising than you can image. For
instance, if your email is forwarded to someone else, who knows - maybe
the new reader will be looking for what you are offering!
If you post to a forum, you can put a small information
box or signature below each of your posts. This is a great way to tell
people about yourself and your business. You will also gain a link back
to your website to help with your ranking in search engines.
===============
Probably 4 or 5 lines maximum is the general guideline,
but there may be instances where you would like to give more information -
that's what the Internet is all about. It takes a lot of thought to create
a great signature file - take your time, experiment, and look at others'.
Don't forget that you can change your email signature file in under a
minute!
Some people like to leave a blank line above their top
line of words - so that they won't have to leave a space in every email.
It depends on how you compose your email.
What to include.
-
your name
-
who you are
-
what your business
is about Your biggest gun - most important benefit about your business.
(more about this below).
-
a way to subscribe
to your newsletter (if one)
-
your web site
address - very important - people love to check you out!
-
your email address
(not usually necessary, unless you want to use it in a forum or
discussion group - but it may be picked up by a spam mail harvester - be
careful.)
Here are some good examples of email signatures:

The tag line or Unique Selling Position (USP).
This is a little commercial to make people curious
enough to visit your site. Put some real thought into this line. I see
lots of people waste this valuable advertising space by including some
quote from some famous person. If your site is about that person, great.
Otherwise, let him or her do their own promotion. You should be promoting
yourself, not them.
A tagline that really hits home is one that doesn't just
'brand' the poster but one that also supports her USP (or unique selling
proposition) -- i.e., not just *how* she is better, different, or quality
or whatever, but also *why*).
Another is one that offers something of value -- one
that the reader can really take advantage of and get something from.
What I mean is, the bestselling word in the English language is the word
'FREE.' If you offer something for free in your signature file or tagline,
your chances of increasing traffic are significantly higher.
It's all about building trust and credibility.
Essentially, the tagline is not meant to get people to visit but meant to
get people to do something: subscribe, contact, phone, fill out a form,
download, join, read, reprint, you name it. This is called 'DIRECTIONAL
MARKETING', since it directs people to do something, and not just 'here's
my link, read it.' (I mean, if that's all there is, then why should I
click it? Who cares, in other words?)
See ours above? - "HELPING YOUR BUSINESS SUCCEED ONLINE" - that
is exactly what service we provide.
A short sentence that differentiates you from others in
your business. If you don't have a USP yet (create one!), include a
descriptive tagline about you and your business.
"What does your
customer WANT from you? NOT, what can you offer to him?"
Borders.
Borders can place a nice frame around your email
signature. Here's a few you could try:

=============
Variations:
Use line breaks and white space to make it easy on the
eye. Stay fresh, by changing your email signature around now and then. You
can include special season's greetings, promotions, or contest
information. This will keep your email recipients "checking you out".
Emphasis - how to make your email signature STAND
OUT:
EVERY EMAIL you send can be a SALES message in disguise
driving valuable traffic to your website. Email signatures are one MUST
HAVE business accessory. Don't be caught without one!
Using CAPITAL letters can really make certain words pop
out at the reader. Borders can place a nice frame around your signature.
