Home Page Changes

Can't change home page?

Is there a site that you visit every time you browse the Web? If so, you can set it as your home page. That way, it will appear every time you start Internet Explorer or click the Home button on the Internet Explorer toolbar.

Note: If you can not do the following, and are thwarted by an unknown element, you may have "Adware" or "Spyware" on your computer. Download this Adware and Spyware scanner to scan your computer (free). More

Home Page Change with Internet Explorer

  1. Go to the Web page you want to make your home page.
  2. On the Internet Explorer Tools menu, click Internet Options.
  3. In the Internet Options box, on the General tab, click the Use Current button.

  4. Click OK.
Tip Tip: Minimalists, take note—you can make your home page change to blank, and if you're a person who wants Internet Explorer to start speedily, a blank home page can't be beat. In Step 3 above, click the Use Blank button. Internet Explorer will display a perfectly blank page every time you start up. Super quick!

Be careful! Some Web sites display an option to make their page your default home page. If you select this option, your current home page may be replaced without giving you a warning. To restore order, follow the steps above, and do your home page changes yourself. Don't say "Can't change home page" ever again!

Go to Your Home Page

Wherever you are on the Web, click the Home button. Internet Explorer takes you straight to your designated home page.

Customized Home Page Changes

Want to create a truly customized home page with only the news and information that you want to see? Sometimes you can have a customized home page through your Internet Service Provider (ISP). Go to their home page to look around for Home Page changes. Another way is to use MSN. Simply go to My MSN and sign in with your .NET Passport. From there, you can create your own home page and personalize the settings the way you want by:

  • choosing which information categories you want to see, such as news, entertainment, shopping, travel, sports, and more
  • picking the color scheme you like best
  • rearranging the layout of your custom home page by moving items and columns so you can organize the information you choose the way you want

Once you've created your customized home page on My MSN, you can make it your default home page in Internet Explorer. Just follow the steps at the beginning of this article. There! You can do your home page changes yourself!

Note: If you can not do the above, and are thwarted by an unknown element, you may have "Adware" or "Spyware" on your computer. Download this Adware and Spyware Scanner to scan your computer (free). More
